Talking About Commas: Songs/Lyrics
The Soundness in Recycling
(Talking About Commas)
Connelly (Music) Jenna Humphrey (lyrics)
This was originally a poem by a friend. I had a piece of music that I liked but couldn't write lyrics for and then I read her poem - perfect match...
the soundness in recycling is
something i understand
but that is not why i keep writing this poem
it’s the editor in me the need to make a story spin
to take the old and make it new again
how i have longed until longing
dissolves into being, i am dense with it and yet this longing puts out it is something i can give to you
i have been told that i am a good muse
and i have also been told that i will never be happy
the soundness in recycling is
something i understand
but that is not why i keep singing this song
it’s the dreamer in me who thinks of getting old on a porch
the whispered beg that cuts through the grass i want the ground to eat me when i die
